Chitwan is one of the jewels of Nepal, and one of the few remaining undisturbed vestiges of the Terai region. It’s one thing to feel like a tiger and a totally different thrill to catch a glimpse of a real one. At Nepal’s oldest National Park, also a World Heritage Site, you can track wild Royal Bengal tigers, spot a one-horned rhinocerous, or watch great Asiatic elephants bathing in the river. Spread over more than 900 square kilometres, Chitwan National Park is home to over 700 species of wildlife, including the giant hornbill.
